I doubt that there is any connection between your Carlson family and mine but its worth a
try.
Andrew Peter and Anna Regina Carlson were both born in Sweden. Andrews birth date has
not been officially verified but there have been some notes stating that his birth date
was December 26, 1818. Anna however was born September 07, 1822 according to her death
certificate. Andrew and Anna were married probably in 1851 in Sweden and then moved
shortly afterwards in 1852 to the United States of America. It is thought that siblings
of Andrew or Anna came with them to the USA. They settled somewhere near Princeton,
Bureau County, Illinois and this is where their first child John Andrew Carlson was born.
John Andrew was born on September 18, 1852. Sometime between 1853 and 1854 this family
moved to Des. Moines County, Iowa probably to Union Township as that is where they are
found to be living in the 1856 Iowa State Census. At this time they spelled Carlson
(Corrolson). Andrew P. and Anna R. Carlson had the second son Henry Alexander - He was
born August 15, 1854. I!
t is assumed that the additional 4 children were also born near Burlington, Des Moines
County, Iowa. The names of the other 4 children were David W. Carlson, Sophia, (Emma or
Alma?)and Amy M.
In the County Court of Des Moines County in Burlington Iowa Andrew P. Corrolson
signed his declaration of Intent to become a United States Citizen on October 1, 1859. In
the 1880 Federal Nebraska Fillmore County, Bryant Township Census this family is all
enumerated except John and the youngest daughter (Amy). In the 1885 Nebraska State,
Kearney County, Mariage Township - Axtell Census, Andrew, Anna, Henry, David, and Amy are
enumerated but Emma was not and Sophie and her husband Alva Culver and 3 children are also
enumerated.. Note - John married in 1877 and had his own family and at the time of the
1885 Nebraska Census they were enumerated in the 1885 Fillmore County, Nebraska State
Census. John and his family moved to Nebraska sometime after 1881. John and his wife had
11 children. On June 18, 1886 Andrew and Anna's youngest daughter - Amy M. died of
TB. Amy M. Carlson is buried in the Salem Cemetery located on the Kearney/Phelps County
line (20th Road) southw!
est of Axtell, Nebraska. According to Sophia's family Andrew died October 20, 1904,
however I have found nothing to verify this date. It is known that Andrew is buried in
an unmarked grave in the Stockholm Swedish Cemetery which is located between the
town's of Ong and Shickley, Nebraska in Fillmore County. The spot where he is buried
is listed as John Carlson and that is probably because the oldest son, John Carlson
bought the lot. The person who had the cemetery records knew this Carlson family and had
been very good friends with John's daughter Hattie (Carlson) Johnson. Hattie had told
him that her grandfather was buried in this particular cemetery. After Andrew Peter
Carlson's death, Anna Regina Carlson moved away from Nebraska about the year of 1905
or 1906 with her son David W. and his wife - Emma (Freeberg) Carlson to Arizona. On April
07, 1918 Anna passed away in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona and is buried in an
unmarked grave in the Greenwood Cemetery in!
Phoenix.
If this information should match any of yours let me know. I have pictures of Andrew and
Anna.
