Hej Sandy -
Sorry to have taken so long to reply.
With rare exceptions, Swedish women at that time did not take their husband's name
when getting married, so Gov was just her name. For information on Swedish naming
practices, take a look at SwegGate (
http://www.sweggate.com) and click on Facts - Names,
naming practices - StarGuide on Naming practices.
For information on parents, siblings, etc. you will need to research in the parish
records. For the most part, databases on CDs and the Internet do not go back that far
yet. There are some CDs for Kalmar län under development which will have birth
information for earlier years, but I don't know when they will be available. There is
a database on the Internet called DISBYT (see
http://www.dis.se/denindex.htm) which might
possibly have some useful information. You can search this database without joining DIS,
but you get much more information if you join and even more if you submit info on your
family to include in the database.
SwegGate has a lot of useful information about researching the parish records. I would
recommend you read the Guides sections, particularly the beginner's guide and the
Guides for the Church Records.
Hope this helps -
