Criticism is absolutely fair if it is the truth without malice. We'll likely get
nowhere with this concept. The truth cannot have implications. It stands alone.
My results from the Swenson Center? 1 Baptismal Record from Kane, PA for Esther. This was
good information that I did not have.
The following is a DIRECT QUOTE from the Swenson Center, Judy; not an implication.
"We started with the Swedish American Church Records from Kane PA. We were unable to
find the Carlsons listed as members. Keep in mind that the Swedish American Church
Records are our only way to trace people's whereabouts in the U.S. so if they were not
church members we do not expect to find much information about them."
"Next we went to Jamestown, NY Records hoping to find Malcolm and Mathilda's
funerals, their children and grandchildren as well as any obituaries. Unfortunately, we
were unable to find any of them in the above Jamestown Church Records. We cannot look for
Obituaries in Swedish American newspapers without first knowing the death date.
Unfortunately, this exhausts our sources which are limited when one is trying to trace
someone around the U.S."
---------------------
Now that is all very important information that customers like me like to know.
Personally, I searched the church records of small towns around Kane and found them as
members in a Ludlow, PA Lutheran Church. From there I found a Letter of Dismission to the
First Lutheran Church in Jamestown, NY. On this letter was Malcom and Mathilda with their
seven children listing, birthdate, birthplace, baptism and confirmation dates for
everyone. Records from the First Lutheran Church in Jamestown have the full records of my
family along with the death notices. Church volunteers then went to the library and found
the obituaries for all those deceased. That has opened that branch of the family wide
open.
The moral of this story? Don't get upset with facts, even if they hurt your feelings,
and don't accept someone else's brick walls as your own. The information is out
there.
