Margery Ruth (Gery) Carlson
On Monday, August 29, 2011, Margery (Gery) Ruth Carlson passed away peacefully at the age
of 87 Gery is dearly loved by her family and will be deeply missed by her sisters-in-law,
Lois Hutchison and Renata Trojan, her four children, Bob Jr., Jon, Pati, and Betsy, her
son-in-law Michael, daughter-in-law Cheryl, her six grandchildren, Devlyn, Jason,
Christin, Katy, Jordon, and Robert, granddaughter-in-law Z, and great-grandchildren Hank,
Camdyn, and Cody Jr. She is preceded in death by her husband Bob and brother Jack. Gery
was born October 18, 1923 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Allen and Sue Hutchison. As a young
woman she had a deep passion for dancing especially to Glenn Miller music and she found
the perfect dance partner in Robert Carlson. Gery and Lieut. Bob Carlson were wed in 1945
and they remained happily married for 64 years. Bob and Gery raised their family of four
children between Pennsylvania, Belgium, and southern California. Gery leaves a legacy of
kindness as she ga!
ve everything she had to the people she loved. She was an extraordinary homemaker,
mother, and wife. To her family, she was a role model who radiated happiness and grace in
all situations. She also had the uncanny ability to make anything and everything happen,
so if you had a wish, Gery could make it come true. She will be greatly missed as a
wonderful friend and beautiful woman, but her inspiration lives on in the people who knew
her well. She will be remembered always. She was a member of the First Presbyterian
Church, first in Erie and then in Santa Barbara and Lompoc. A private inurnment in the
Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery was held by the family. Arrangements are in the care of
Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
