Harry Norman "Pete" Carlson, 73,
of 2071 Cable Hollow Road, Russell, Pa.,
passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa. Harry was born May
26, 1938, in Akeley, Pa., the son of the late Clarence and Mildred Rowley Carlson Sr. He
was a lifelong Akeley resident and a 1957 graduate of Eisenhower High School. He was
employed with the Hillerich and Bradsby Ball Bat Factory, maker of the famous
"Louisville Slugger". He worked at the Akeley branch, Larimer and Norton for
forty six years, retiring on August 31, 2006. Harry was a member of the Gouldtown Church,
and was a firm believer in God, and accepted his son Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age
of 19. Harry enjoyed garage sale hopping, auctions, and tinkering in his workshop. He
especially enjoyed taking scenic photographs. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Jackson
Carlson, Russell, Pa., whom he married at the Cable Hollow Church on March 5, 1960; two
daughters, Rebecca Sue Peterson and her husband, Dane, Warren, Pa., and Johanna Greenland
and companion, Mike Anderson Warren, P!
a.; two sons, Richard Carlson and his wife, Heike, Erie, Pa., and Jeffrey Carlson and his
wife, Brenda, Frewsburg, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Olivia and Erin Carlson, Erie, Pa.,
Jeremy Church, at home, Nerissa Greenland, Warren, Pa., and Katherine Harkins, Warren,
Pa.; three step-grandchildren, Ben, Christine, and Lily Pollaro, Frewsburg, N.Y.; four
sisters, Delores Haley and her husband, Alan, Jamestown, N.Y., Mary Carlson, Erie, Pa.,
Beverly Himes, Warren, Pa., and Anne Poleon and her husband, Robert, Milford, Ohio; two
brothers, Clarence Carlson and his wife, Barbara, Akeley, Pa., and Charles Carlson and his
wife, Shirley, Clinton, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents
he was preceded in death on June 17, 1987 by a son, Ronald Lynn Carlson, identical twin
brother of Richard; and a nephew, Craig Carlson. Friends will be received at the Peterson
- Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Wednesday, February 22, from 1
to 3 and 6 to!
8 p.m. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Cable
Hollow Community Church, 3157 Cable Hollow Rd., Russell, PA 16345.
