Beatrice Zwilling Carlson, 79,
died Wednesday, June 23, 2010,
at the Village at Luther Square.
She was born July 26, 1930, in Erie,CO,PA,
daughter of the late Carl and Susan Eller Zwilling. A Lifelong resident of Erie, she
graduated from Academy High School in 1948. She was an Executive Secretary for Erie County
Vocational Technical School and had also worked for Carl Shultz Candy Company, Continental
Rubber Works, and Mac-Erie Mfg. Mrs. Carlson was a lifelong member of St. John's
Lutheran Church, a member of the Pennsylvania State Secretarial Assoc. and Siebenbuerger
Ladies Auxiliary. She was a 4-H Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother, and for several years was
a volunteer for softball and baseball leagues in Summit Twp. She enjoyed gardening and
playing cards, belonging to a 500 card club. She was preceded in death by a brother,
Milford Zwilling.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, J. Gilbert Carlson;
a son, Donald E. Carlson and wife, Wendy, of Waterford; a daughter, Susan Carlson, of
Erie;
two sisters, Christal G. Reichert, of Waterford, and Margaret E. Lasher, of Erie; a
brother, Charles Zwilling and wife, Joyce, of Orange Park, Fla.; two granddaughters,
Rebecca and Emma Carlson, of Erie; two grandsons, Robert Thoms and wife, Heather, and Roy
Thoms, all of Waterford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St. A service will be held at St.
John's Lutheran Church, 2216 Peach St., Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roy P.
Washill officiating. Burial will be at Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St.
John's Lutheran Church, 2216 Peach St., Erie, PA 16502.
