Mr. Dwight Edward Carlson, 80,
passed into the next life Friday, October 1, 2010 at 6:15 a.m. at the Rouse Warren County
Home following an extended illness. Dwight was born January 23, 1930 in Warren to the late
John and Luella Hartness Carlson. He lived most of his life in the Tiona area on Six Mile
Rd and attended Warren Area Schools before joining the U.S. Marine Corps. He started
working as a welder and became a member of the Boilermakers International Union and worked
in many areas of the country. Mr. Carlson was also a self-employed contractor for 15 years
and loved the outdoors. He often stated his gratefulness for the ability to remain active
until 2 years ago.
His activities included tending bees for honey, supplying camp fire wood to many camp
grounds and businesses, and making maple syrup. Dwight was a member of the Pa. State
Snowmobile Club and a former member of the Diamond Grange. He is survived by his wife
Tanya Hinds Carlson whom he married on November 11, 1970; one son Jeff Carlson of Warren;
five daughters, Linda Ackerman and husband Ron, Sheffield, Frances Groner and husband Pat,
Erie, Helen Remsburg and husband Tim, Nashua, N.H., Sabrina Bosselman and husband Dennis,
Berlin, Mass., and Tammy Cacek and husband Steve, Girard; one sister Marjorie Brown, Park
City, Utah, first wife Catherine Boardman, Erie; 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren,
and two great, great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his
parents, Dwight was preceded in death his mother -in-law Mary Hinds, an infant son at
birth, one granddaughter Amy Boyer and one grandson Larry Ackerman. A funeral service will
be held Tuesday,!
October 5th at the Borden-Lloyd Funeral Home. Rev. Martin Reynolds, pastor, Tiona
Methodist Church will officiate at the 11:00 a.m. service and burial will follow in
Sheffield Cemetery. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October
4th from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Warren
County Humane Society.
