I've not had much luck with available sources in attempting to find the parents of
Eliza Carlough who married Samuel DeBow on 24 Jun 1862 in Preakness, Passiac Co, NJ.
There is an Elizabeth Carlough b. 1 Sept 1840, a daughter of George Carlough &
Elizabeth Forshay but she is listed as marrying Thomas D. Ackerson, son of David P.
Ackerson &
Margaret May so it can't be this Elizabeth.
The only other candidate in the censuses I can find, so far, in the 1860 census in
Hohokus, NJ - Eliza J. Carlough 24y in the household of Nick Carlough 68y, Mary 61y &
Hannah M. 18y.
I only find her on the one census. Earlier, on the 1850 census, I can only find Nicholus
Carlough 58y with Maria 50y, Hannah M. 8y & Margaret 26y but no Eliza who would have
been 14y.
Could this 1860 entry be her? She is a possibility as my Eliza does name a son Nicholas
and one of her daughters Mary.
Does anyone have any thoughts/knowledge as to who the parents of my Eliza Carlough may
have been?
