The obituary for James Gilbert CARLOCK (1921 - 2012) of Toms River, NJ, who died Sept. 8,
2012, can be found at the following site:
http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/app/obituary.aspx?n=james-g-carlock&...
I show James's CARLOCK/CARLOUGH lineage as follows:
Jeremiah CARLOCK/CARLOUGH (1774 - 1847)
John Jacob CARLOCK (b. ca. 1808)
Jeremiah "Jerry" CARLOCK/CARLOUGH (b. ca. 1843, Saddle River, Bergen Co., NJ)
John Edwin "Edwin" CARLOCK, Sr. (b. 1863, Saddle River, Bergen Co., NJ)
James Gilbert CARLOCK (1921 - 2012)
I have not yet been able to connect James' gr.-gr.-grandfather to the rest of the
CARLOCK/CARLOUGH family tree, but believe that he is probably descended from the immigrant
Coenraad "Conrad" GERLACH/GERLAG/CARLOCK (1660 - ca. 1712) of Hackensack, Bergen
Co., NJ.
Note that James's grandfather Jeremiah "Jerry" CARLOCK/CARLOUGH is not to be
confused with Jeremiah "Jerry" CARLOCK/CARLOUGH, s/o Abraham CARLOUGH/CARLOCK
and Maria VAN DIEN, b. 1844, Bergen Co., NJ. James's grandfather (s/o John) can be
found on the following censuses: Washington Township, Bergen Co., NJ, 1850, 1860; P.O.
Saddle River, Washington Township, Bergen Co., NJ, 1870; and Jersey City, Hudson Co., NJ,
1880. The other Jeremiah "Jerry" CARLOCK/CARLOUGH (s/o Abraham) can be found on
the following censuses: New Barbadoes Township, Bergen Co., NJ, 1850, 1860; Ridgewood,
Bergen Co., NJ, 1880, 1900, 1920. This second Jeremiah (s/o Abraham) apparently also had
an older brother named Jeremiah CARLOCK (1830 - 1839) who died before he was born.
Also note that, according to James's obituary, he was an engineer who "was
Project Administrator in the Planning and Construction Division of The World Trade
Department" and worked on several projects associated with the World Trade Center
prior to his retirement from the Port Authority in 1988.
