Need assistance in sorting out the various Nicholas GERLACHs, GARLOCKs, CARLOCKs, and
CARLOUGHs of New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Note that it is possible that not
all of these individuals are related to each other. It is also probable that this is not
a complete list of individuals who fit this description. I have also not yet done
extensive research on the GERLACH and GARLOCK lines, but welcome input from others who
have researched those lines.
Niclaes/Nicholas KERLACH/GERLACH (s/o Coenraad "Conrad" GERLACH/GERLAG/CARLOCK
and Anna Maria KUMMERIN, and grandson of Johan Peter "Hans" GERLACH and Anna
Maria KUMMERIN), b. 1710; m. Elizabeth DE GRAUW, Sept. 8, 1729. Residence Ramapo,
Rockland Co., NY. Niclaes/Nicholas and Elizabeth were possibly parents of a son named
Niclas CARLOCK who served in the Revolutionary War. However, page 429 of the book
"History of the Carlock Family," by Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929, says,
""May be son of Pieter instead of Niclaes."

Sept., 1749.
Nicholaus GERLACH who arrived Philadelphia, Ship "Edinburgh," from Rotterdam,

Nicolass GARLOCK (s/o the immigrant Johan Christian GERLACH/GARLOCK/CARLOCK and
"Indian maiden doctor"; and grandson of Johan Peter "Hans" GERLACH and
Anna Maria KUMMERIN), b. 1734; m. DIRCKIE.
Niclas CARLOCK (As noted above, pg. 429 of the book "History of the Carlock
Family," lists Niclas as son of Niclaes and grandson of Conrad, but includes the note
"May be son of Pieter instead of Niclaes." The book also says "No doubt
served in War of 1776." According to the book, Niclas was the father of daughters
Anna (b. July 28, 1791) and Elizabeth (b. Oct. 28, 1770).
Nicklos CARLOCK, U.S. Revolutionary War, New York, enlisted, Orange County Militia (Land
Bounty Rights) -- Second Regiment. (Is this the same person as the above-listed Niclas
CARLOCK?)

James CARLOUGH, b. 1813, NJ? David's daughter Elisabeth J. "Eliza"
CARLOUGH, age 24, appears to have been living in Nick's household at the time of the
1860 census.
