Sorry if others have not been able to get to the links and emails -- post here (if you

As for Carlon surname generally Carlon or CarOlan and other different spellings. Remember,
written words by most was NOT common, most was spoken words passed down generation by
generation until someone finally wrote it down based on how they HEARD it, so spelling
really means little as I have seen CARLIN, CARLON, and many variations.
My CARLON/CAROLAN (as it seems the "O" was dropped at some point) originate in
County Mayo, Ireland, in the 1800s, Gallen Barony, see

(Which I think was transferred to County Sligo at somepoint)
nonetheless, my CARLON Ancestors originally from my early searches were from county mayo,
ireland.
