sorry for the long delay in responding. I have so many posts online it is caused me to use
a spreadsheet to keep track of them !
If your in the UK in Oct. I might be there too !!
The Origin of the CARLON surname seems to be from Co. Mayo Ireland, and something exists
to do with the Apparition.
As for any in Australia, I would beat and start my search in the convict (as I do hate
that term, but it is what is used) records in the 1700-1800 time frame, first. If that
fails to find your ancestors, Father's Father, Father, ect...I would widen the search
to later times -- it would seem you need to know the earliest ancestor there, and then you
know better where to look. Lacking that, I think databases exist for the records making it
easy.
And, a GREAT file about those times is the Aust. Movie, AGAINST THE WIND, it is about
Irish who were shipped there, one couple, for stealing their own cow back -- great series
from Australia !!
