I saw your post from February, 2007 on the Caelon's. Thomas J. Carlon was a son of
Hugh and Christina Rinkenberger Carlon. I have a copy of Thomas and Ellen Sweeney's
marriage certificate from Grundy County, Ill. My husband descends from Hugh. I also have
James Loughlin Carlon and Mary Sweeney's marriage certificate. James is the son of
Phillip Carlon and Mary Sweeney. Ellen and Mary are sisters. I am trying to find the
connection between Hugh, Phillip, and Loughlin Carlon. I live about a mile from the old
Carlon homestead and have access to the cemetery, library, and courthouse. I am having a
hard time figuring out who belongs to whom. LOTS of Mary's, Phillips, Ellen's,
etc. I have an obituary of a Phillip Carlan in 1867. Hugh Carlon died in 1868. I do have
quite a few marriage certificates, obituaries, etc. I know that Thomas Carlon left Grundy
County and went to the Rankin area. There are many Carlon's, Carolan's buried at
Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Morris, IL. Some Phillip's!
, Hugh, and Loughlin are all there. Sweeney's are also there. Hope there is a
connection. Mary Jo
