Subject: Ancestors of George Pinckney Carlock
Sue,
Geo was my great-grandfather. I would be interested in sharing info with you as a result.
I did notice that your web page does not show the second marriage of George's
father, Elder Moses Carlock. His second wife was Mildia May Simmons and it was Mildia who
was George's mother (shown as such on back of the mariage license of George) She
remarried to Thomas Daniel Carlock after Moses died, and if I have followed the
connections correctly, this means that George's stepfather was also his cousin.
I currently am trying to understand the Carlocks of southern Illinois, and Union County in
particular. That gets me back to Eber Carlock. I have not tried to trace things any
further but it seems that everybody offers the same lineages, and probably seems that that
"Carlock book" is the source.
George's daughter Edith was my grandmother. She died about 3 years ago and was a
grand lady. My feelings about her are probably best evidenced by the fact that Edith is
my own daughter's middle name.
