I do not think that they are. I have no proof, but I believe that Martha
Norris was Martha Williams who married William Carlock on Feb 27 1823 and
had the following children - Zachariah born abt 1823, Daniel born abt 1829
and Thomas born abt 1831.
It would appear that William Carlock died and she married John Norris March
26 1834 and had the following children with him - Sarah born abt 1834,
William born abt 1838, Mary E born abt 1842 and Anderson L born abt 1848.
Different census has Martha as being from North Carolina and MS.
I lean towards the above because for many years Zachariah Carlcok resided in
the house hold of Martha Norris, William and Mary named one of their
children Zach Norris, the 1850 census has 4 young males living in the house
with Martha Norris and the way that the census taker wrote down the info you
would think that Zachariah, Daniel and Thomas were Norris as William is
listed.
Just speculation with no proof.

This is in reply to SMC's posting to the RootsWeb CARLOCK mailing list
earlier today titled "Meta Carlock." Can anyone confirm whether or not the
Martha NORRIS listed as mother of the William NORRIS who is bd. in
Providence Cemetery, Franklin Co., MS, is the same individual as Margaret
(or Martha) CARLOCK (d/o John CARLOCK and Wilhelmina), who m. possibly
NORRIS; and William B. PATTERSON, 1 Sep 1836, Franklin Co., MS? Dicey
Elizabeth CARLOCK NORRIS (d/o Benjamin "Ben" CARLOCK, Joseph S. CARLOCK,
John CARLOCK) and her husband John Henry NORRIS (s/o William NORRIS) are
also bd. in this same cemetery. The above-mentioned Margaret (or Martha)
CARLOCK was a great-aunt to Dicey.
