1. William Carlock is in Vol. 3, "Missouri Pioneers" as having a letter in
the post office July 1, 1820.
2. Land Grant:
a. Received a land grant of 40 acres November 14, 1837 in Stoddard Co., MO. (I
have a copy of this land grand).
b. Sold it to John D. Carlock May 1838. (I have a copy of this deed with Wm.
V's signature and the "x" of his wife, "Fannie."
c. John D. Carlock purchased the land to the north of it from William Wray. (
I have a copy of this deed) Was John D. WILLIAM VANCE II'S BROTHER?
3. William V. Carlock was on the grands jury of Stoddard County March 21, 1838.
4. William Vance II did not appear in the 1840 census, but his wife, Frances did. (I
have this deed with his signature and his wife, Fanny's "X".
5. Wife Frances Carlock in 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870 census of Wayne Co., MO. with the
children and grandchildren.
MISC. MAYBE AFFECTING WV II:
1. In Schuyler Co., IL (where one of Wm II's sons was born "visiting
relatives") was Abraham Carlock.
a. Abraham Carlock and JAMES VANCE (Vance being his last name) were both on the
Grand Jury of 1825.
b. Abraham Carlock had a twin daughter named Mary Jane Carlock (Brown) b. 1802 in
Hampshire Co., VA.
c. He had 17 children, the last being William. Was this WV II? He had no sons
named John.
d. Abraham was son of Hanchrist
2. In "Territorial Papers of the US: La., MO Terr. 1806-1818," Vol. XIV, pg.
386, MOSES CARLOCK signed a petition to congress.
3. In Shenandoah Co., VA. where many early Carlocks lived, a Mr. Vance owned much land
in the mid 1700s.
