This is in reply to H. W. CARLOCK, Jr.'s (dragonfu(a)aol.com) inquiry posted to the
CARLOCK GenForum on July 6, 2001. In that inquiry Mr. CARLOCK said that his grandfather
Hurbert Walker CARLOCK was born in a log cabin on display on Petit Jean Mountain, AR.
Please see my posting earlier today to the CARLOCK mailing list regarding A.J. CARLOCK
(1924 - 2001) who was born on Petit Jean Mountain. A copy of that posting follows. As
far as I know I am not closely related to this branch of the CARLOCK family.

DARDANELLE -- A.J. Carlock, 76, of Dardanelle died Tuesday, July 3, at Dardanelle
Hospital. Born Sept. 23, 1924, on Petit Jean Mountain, he was the son of the late A.A.
and Lula Mae Caudell Carlock, and a farmer. He was preceded in death by a brother, J.W.
Carlock; and a sister, Ruby Faye Carlock. Survivors include his wife, Adlee Garner
Carlock; two daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Wayne Venable of Mayflower and Carolyn
and Wayne Bookout of Dardanelle; three brothers; a sister; six grandchidren; three
great-grandchidren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. Graveside service will be at 10
a.m. Thursday at Petit Jean Cemetery by the Rev. True Fitch and the Rev. Wayne Bookout.
Burial will be by Cornwell Funeral Service. Grandchildren and nephews will serve a
pallbearers.
