This is the chronology I have been able to come up with for George W.
Carlock b.c. 1779, who I believe is the son of David Carlock of NC &
KY. I know several of you have researched this more than I. If you
have corrections or additions of DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE (not what "the
book" says), please let me/us know.
c. 1781: Relationship to David Carlock not proven; but George Carlock
was in the same county as David and is the right age to be his son.
George's father-in-law lived "3 pages away" from David Carlock in the
1810 Warren Co., KY, census (see below).
1805: Oct. 11 George Carlock & Rachel Landers married in Warren Co.,
KY. John Landers bondsman. Both over 21.
1810: Census of Warren County (formerly Logan and Lincoln), KY, shows
the following on pg. 279, line 27. There was obviously a person in the
household of an older generation than the parents. Did the census
taker just look and decide this old person was a woman when s/he was
actually a man? Could this older person have been John Landers, and
the young couple George and Rachel Landers Carlock?
1 male 26-44 - Father John Landers or Husb. George Carlock?
1 male 1-10 - son
1 female 45+ - Grandmother/father?
1 female 26-44 - Mother? or Wife. Rachel Landers Carlock?
3 females 0-10 - dtrs.
1810: Probable father David Carlock was on page 276, line 11 of the
Warren/Spencer (formerly Logan and Lincoln) Co., KY, census as follows:
1 male 45+ - David
1 male 16-26 - son John D.
1 male 1-16 - son William Vance probably (he m. c. 1820 in MO)
1 female 45+ - Elizabeth
Probable sister Mary Carlock with husband Tho's Hefington (m. 1804)
next door on line 12 as follows:
1 male 26-44 - Thomas
1 male 0-10 - son
1 female 16-26 - wife Mary Carlock
1 female 0-10 - dtr
1 female 0-10 - dtr
Probable sister Margaret Carlock with husband Barney Law (m. 1806) next
door on line 13 as follows:
1 male 16-26 - Barnabus
1 male 0-10 - son
1 female 16-26 - wife Margaret Carlock
1 female 0-10 - dtr
Future wife of John D. Carlock ~ Polly Gibson ~ on line 21 with father
John Gipson as follows:
1 male 44+ - Father John Gipson
1 male 0-10 - son

2 males 16-26 - sons

Probable sister Catherine Carlock with husband James Hendricks (m.
1809) on page 277, line 2 as follows:

1818: Aug. 20, Thos. T. Dixon? sold to George Carlock for $400, 80-1/2
acres on Big Barren River and abutting the line of Benjamin Martin.
Witnesses: Samuel Tabore and Jacob Tabore.
1820: Allen (previously Warren) Co, KY, census lists George Carlock on
pg. 110, line 18 as follows:
1 male 26-45 - George
1 male 10-16 - son
1 male 0-10 - son
1 male 0-10 - son
1 female 26-45 - wife Rachel Landers
1 female 10-16 - dtr
1 female 0-10 - dtr
1 female 0-10 - dtr
1830: Jan. 16, John & Zeny Ayers and Frederick C. & Zeny Lynch sold to
Thomas Ayers for $300, 150 acres bounded by Isaac Satterfield, David
Ayers, CARLOCK, Willoby, & Stayten. [Source: Allen Co., KY, Deed Bk.
D (1826-1831), pg. 268-269]
1840: Allen/Warren Co., KY, census lists George Carlock on pg. 60
1842: George's grandson, George W., through son, Abraham, married
Martha B. Jordan. Martha's brothers married the grand dtrs of George's
probable sister, Margaret through her dtr. Polly in Jasper Co., TX.
1842: George's grand dtr. was named Dicey Carlock. In the 1810 census
of Warren Co., KY, is a Leonard Reed (pg. 277, line 9) whose mother was
Maria Dice Reed. George's possible brother or cousin, John Carlock's
son George Washington Carlock (b.1812), married Kitty Read in
Warren/Allen Co, KY.
