Message Board Post:
This is a follow-up to my Mar. 16, 2006, posting to the RootsWeb CARLOCK Message Board
titled "Frederick CARLOCK, Jr., m. Isabel CAROTHERS, 1784, Rowan Co., NC."
On page 143 of the book "The Heritage of Old Mecklenburg County, North Carolina,
1763-2003," in an article I submitted titled "351 FAMILY OF FREDERICK CARLOCK,
SR. (1720- ?)," I wrote, "Another probable descendant of Frederick [Sr.] whose
exact lineage has not yet been determined is Moses Carlock, born 1791, in Mecklenburg
County, who married a woman named Lydia, born 1785, and is buried in Wesley Chapel
Cemetery, Marshall County, Mississippi. One daughter, Sarah B. Carlock, has been
identified for Moses and Lydia. Sarah was born August 13, 1812, in North Carolina, and
married Alfred T. Cooper."
As mentioned in my previous posting, I now believe Moses to be a son of Frederick CARLOCK,
Jr., and a grandson of Frederick CARLOCK, Sr. So far I have only found a small amount of
information about Moses and his descendant, as follows:
Moses CARLOCK (s/o Frederick CARLOCK, Frederick CARLOCK/CARELOCK, David GERLACH/CARLOCK,
Hans GERLACH) was born 1791 in Mecklenburg Co., NC, and died Bet. 1843 - 1846. He married
Lydia (possibly BROOKS), possibly daughter of William BROOKS and a probable second wife.
She was born 1785 in NC, and died Aft. 1845.
