This is a follow-up to my July 26, 2009, posting to the RootsWeb CARLOCK Message Board in
reply to Robert GRONDIN's July 25, 2009, posting to the same message board, titled,
"Carlock, Ellen J wife of J.C. Union County Il," located at the following site:
http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.carlock/558.1/mb.ashx
So far I have only located James Calvin "J.C." CARLOCK and his wife Elinore
Isabelle "Ellen" LITTLETON on the 1850 census. Has anyone located Ellen on the
1870 census? My records show J.C. to have remarried on June 1, 1871, in Union Co., IL, to
Julia Ann POOLE, which would indicate that Ellen very likely died before June 1, 1871.
I'm wondering if the death age of "18 years" and the middle initial of
"J." on the broken tombstone found listed in a cemetery book by Mr. GRONDIN
could have been errors, which could potentially make the two Ellens listed in my previous
posting and the Ellen listed in Mr. GRONDIN's posting all the same person. It would
be helpful if someone on this list could visit the cemetery and double check the
information listed in the book. What was the name of the cemetery listed? Did the book
give additional information such as the location of the tombstone within the cemetery? I
live near San Antonio, Texas, and am unable to visit the cemetery myself.
