See the following site for an article which appeared in the "San Francisco
Chronicle," Sept. 11, 2002, titled "9.11.01, ONE YEAR LATER, Where do New York
firefighters find meaning?"
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2002/09/11/MN233758.DTL
The article states that "Owen Carlock, a 22-year veteran working for Brooklyn's
Ladder Co. 122 ... was at ground zero when both [World Trade Center] towers fell. He and
his co-workers hid behind a bank building to avoid the debris."
The article also mentions Owen's wife Shirley.
I show Owen's lineage as follows:
Abraham CARLOCK
probably Abraham (or Abram) CARLOCK, Jr.
Daniel CARLOCK
Bernardo/Bernard F. CARLOCK
Bernard Francis CARLOCK
Owen T. CARLOCK
I have not yet found Owen's ggg-grandfather Abraham CARLOCK's exact lineage, but
believe he is probably somehow descended from the immigrant Coenraad/Conrad
GERLACH/GERLAG/CARLOCK (1660 - ca. 1712), of Hackensack, Bergen Co., NJ. Page 430 of the
book "History of the Carlock Family," by Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929, lists
Abraham CARLOCK (1798 - 1865), a "member of the old Volunteer Fire Department in New
York City," as "son of Jeremiah, ________, ________, Conrad." I believe
this lineage to be incorrect, with Jeremiah's son Abraham/Abram CARLOCK, Esq., instead
b. 1807/1808, NY or NJ; m. Rachel P.; d. 21 July 1880; bd. Edgewater Cemetery, Edgewater,
Bergen Co., NJ.
