This is in response to Sandy GILMORE SHEPPARD's (TracingMyRoots(a)hotmail.com)
Aug. 9, 2006, posting to the RootsWeb SHIPS_FROM_ENGLAND Message Board
titled "Robert GILMORE (1780-1855)."
Page 34 of the book "History of the Carlock Family" says, "Another
daughter
of David Carlock was Catherine Carlock who married one of the sons of
Charles and Sarah Whitman of Augusta County, Virginia. By this union two
daughters were born: Mary, who married William Bradley and who emigrated to
Kentucky, and Barbara who married John Jameson about 1791. No additional
information available on either family."
Also, according to Joyce M. MEDEIROS's (joycemis(a)myway.com,
joycem(a)gibsoncounty.net) Mar. 1, 2003, posting to the
Genealogy.com CARLOCK
Family Genealogy Forum titled "Unknown Carlock married widow Catherine
Whitman aft 1784," located at the following site, "Catherine had at least
two children Mary Elizabeth Whitman m. Wm Bradley 1791 and Matthew Whitman
m. Katherine Stalnaker 1799."

It appears that the Elizabeth WHITMAN mentioned in the SHIPS_FROM_ENGLAND
Message Board posting is the same person as the Mary WHITMAN mentioned in
the book "History of the Carlock Family," and the Mary Elizabeth WHITMAN
mentioned in Joyce MEDEIROS's Mar. 1, 2003, posting to the
Genealogy.com
CARLOCK Family Genealogy Forum.

Message Board Post:
Looking for immigration information on.....
Robert GILMORE born in either Ireland or Scotland in 1780. He came to the
US
between 1780 and 1830, perhaps even before 1819. (Marriage record in
Virginia is unclear.)
His parents were Archibald & Jane GILMORE. I don't know if they came with
him to the US. And, I don't know who Robert's siblings were.
Robert GILMORE settled in Rockbridge County, Virginia. He may have been a
teacher
in Lexington, Virginia. In either 1819 or 1849 in Rockbridge County,
Virginia, he married Margaret "Peggy" BRADLEY, daughter of William BRADLEY
and Elizabeth WHITMAN (daughter of Catherine CARLOCK and Matthew WHITMAN,
both born in Holland)
When did Robert GILMORE immigrate to the US? What was the name of the
ship? Which
port did he arrive at? Was he alone or with other GILMOREs?
If you hit the reply button on this message, I probably won't receive your
reply....so please email me here.
