"I did a little digging and perhaps this will only confuse things more, but do
you have the 1850 Census Record of James M. Carlock in Astoria, Fulton, IL enumerated on
Oct 23, 1850?
Source Citation: Year: 1850; Census Place: Astoria, Fulton, Illinois; Roll: M432_107;
Page: 124; Image: 110.
Household Members:
James M Carlock, 40, shoemaker bp Tenn (value of real estate 1500)
Maria Carlock, 34 bp Tenn
Harrison Carlock, 16, shoemaker bp Tenn
James M Carlock, 12, bp Tenn
Ellen J Carlock, 2, bp Tenn
Emaline Hurly, 19, bp Tenn
When I looked again at the 1850 Astoria household of Jacob C Carlock, I see that although
most of the Carlock's gave their bp as Ohio, the wife of Jacob, 32, . . .Louisiana B.
Carlock, 28, gave her bp as Tenn.
I copied and pasted the following Carlock bride records for you . . . 'just in
case'. I believe you can order a copy of the Marriage Record from Fulton County.

I just checked the 1870 census in Astoria and Benjamin and Mariah Jellison from the above
listing are living with children, Emma 7, Laura B, 3 and Wm L, 1. Benj is 27, a farmer,
and Maria is 25, bp are listed as Ohio, children bp Illinois. Wm Miller, a farmer, 33, bp
PA is living with them."
Note that, according to this 1850 census record, James M. MADISON did not die in 1849, as
listed on page 577 of the book "History of the Carlock Family," by Marion
Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929. He was apparently alive at the time of the 1850 census, on Oct.
23, 1850. James, however, most likely did die sometime between that time and Sept. 18,
1851, when his wife remarried.
