Seeking ancestry of the following individuals:
Mary (possibly CARLOCK), m. Frederick STARNES (STARING). Frederick b. ca. 1724; d. 4 Apr
1779, Virginia frontier (later Madison Co., KY). In his April 18, 2006, e-mail, John
Field PANKOW (JFPankow(a)aol.com) wrote that Frederick's widow and younger children
came to his land in Mecklenburg Co., NC, after his death, settling on Cane Creek.
Katherine/Catherine (possibly CARLOCK), m. Joseph STARNES, I, Joseph b. ca. 1730; d. Apr
1779, Virginia frontier (later Madison Co., KY). In his April 18, 2006, e-mail, John
Field PANKOW (JFPankow(a)aol.com) wrote that Joseph's widow and younger children came to
his land in Mecklenburg Co., NC, after his death, settling on Crooked Creek.
George CARLOCK (KERLOCK), on 1790 census, Mecklenburg Co., NC; m. Millison (Mellison);
probably migrated to Lincoln Co., NC, where his wife is listed as head of household on the
1810 census.
Rebecca CARLOCK, b. 18 May 1775, NC; m. John FORD (FOARD), Sr., 14 May 1794; d. 20 Jun
1847.
Ellander CARLOCH, m. David FARR, 22 Apr 1801, Cabarrus Co., NC. (Cabarrus Co., NC, was
formed from a portion of Mecklenburg Co., NC, 29 Dec 1792.)
Peggy CARELOCK, m. John CAUBLE, 1 Oct 1805, Cabarrus Co., NC. (Cabarrus Co., NC, was
formed from a portion of Mecklenburg Co., NC, 29 Dec 1792.)
Lydia Carolina CARLOCK, b. ca. 1787, Mecklenburg Co., NC; m. Colbert SHERRILL, ca. 1807,
Lincoln Co., NC; children b. Burke Co., NC, 1809 - 1826; husband d. Alexander Co., NC.
[female] CARLOCK, b. 1800; m. William PYRON. William b. 1770; d. 1853, William also m.
Nancy CROWELL, b. 1784; d. 1839, Source: Mar. 12, 2004, posting to the Rootsweb PYRON
mailing list titled "Re: [PYRON-L] Pyron Ms,"
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/PYRON/2004-03/1079130835. Note that the Mary
Isabella CARLOCK listed in this same posting as marrying John Calvin PYRON (b. 1824), s/o
William PYRON and Nancy CROWELL, is believed to have possibly been a daughter of Frederick
Cornelius "Cornelius" CARLOCK/CARELOCK (s/o John CARLOCK, Sr.; Frederick
CARLOCK; Frederick CARLOCK/CARELOCK; David GERLACH/CARLOCK; Hans Peter GERLOCH/GERLACH)
and his wife Matilda PYRON.
Susan CARELOCK, b. ca. 1802, IL; m. Edward L. COMPTON; 21 May 1820, Jefferson Co., IL; d.
after 1860, Milam Co., TX. Note that some descendants of both David CARLOCK of Warren
Co., KY (s/o Frederick CARLOCK, David GERLACH/CARLOCK, Hans Peter GERLOCH/GERLACH), and
John CARLOCK of Simpson Co., KY (s/o Lemuel CARLOCK, Hanchrist CARLOCK, David
GERLACH/CARLOCK, Hans Peter GERLOCH/GERLACH) used the spelling "CEARLOCK"
(pronounced like "CARELOCK") and appeared in some records with the spelling
"CARELOCK." Frederick CARLOCK/CARELOCK (b. 1720) did have some descendants who
used the spelling "CARELOCK," but none of those individuals are known to have
migrated to Illinois. Also note that the above-mentioned John CARLOCK of Simpson Co.,
KY's younger brother Joseph CARLOCK appears to have been closely associated with Henry
CARLOCK, brother of Frederick CARLOCK (b. 1720). It is possible that Henry took Joseph in
after his father Lemuel CARLOCK was killed by Indians. Henry and Lemuel !
were first cousins.
