This is a correction to information found on page 501 of the book "History of the
Carlock Family," by Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929, and my Dec. 4, 2002, posting to the
RootsWeb CARLOCK Message Board titled "Mason Co., IL, CARLOCKs," based on the
information presented in that book.
Maude P. CONNER was the stepmother, not the mother, of Walter Franklin CARLOCK, Sr., b.
Mar. 23, 1890, IL, and his siblings O. May "May" CARLOCK, b. Dec. 19, 1891 -
Jan. 1893, IL, and Charley CARLOCK, b. 1892 - 1893, IL. The mother of these three
children was Clarissa WALTERS, d/o Louis WALTERS and Mary of Snicarte, Lynchburg Township,
Mason Co., IL. Clarissa WALTERS m. Charles H. "Charley" CARLOCK, s/o Jacob
Madison CARLOCK and Margaret Anna EDLIN, Oct. 3, 1885, Mason Co., IL. Charles m. his
second wife, Maude P. CONNER, June 3, 1899, Mason Co., IL.
Walter is listed as living in the household of his maternal grandparents on both the 1900
and 1910 censuses. Charley is also listed as living in the household of his maternal
grandparents on the 1910 census. May, age 7, was living in the household of her father
and stepmother on the 1900 census, with that census stating that her father and stepmother
had been married eleven months at the time and her stepmother was listed as having 0
children born to her at that time. May, widowed, with the surname JOHNSON, is also listed
as living with her father and stepmother on the 1920 census.
