This is in reply to the Feb. 18, 2007, posting to the RootsWeb GARLOCK Message Board by
judyw0013(a)yahoo.com titled, "Garlocks of Northern New York."
See the following report which appears on my home page for additional information,
including sources, for Johann Christian GERLACH/GARLOCK/CARLOCK (1660 - 1764) of New York
and his family:

Johann is known to have had GERLACH, GARLOCK, and CARLOCK descendants. As mentioned on my
home page at the following site, "There is also some debate as to whether or not
Stephen GARLICK (ca. 1755 - 1826) may have been the son of John 'Hans' Christian
GARLOCK (1724 - 1822), a member of this family. At this point I have not included Stephen
GARLICK in the above-mentioned report due to lack of evidence supporting this
theory:"

Johann was one of three GERLACH brothers known to have migrated to America. I am
descended from Johann's brother David GERLACH/CARLOCK (1674 - 1763) of Augusta Co.,
VA. Most CARLOCKs are descended from David, as well as CARELOCKs, CEARLOCKs (pronounced
like "CARELOCKs"), and the Illinois and Oklahoma CURLOCKs. At least two of the
three known lines of Canadian CURLOCKs are apparently not descended from this GERLACH
family. I have not yet determined the ancestry of the CURLOCKs found in Estevan,
Saskatchewan, Canada.
Another brother, Coenraad/Conrad GERLACH/GERLAG/CARLOCK (1660 - ca. 1712), settled in
Hackensack, Bergen Co., NJ. Coenraad is known to have CARLOCK and CARLOUGH (pronounced
like "CARLOW") descendants. I am also exploring the possibility that he may
also have CARLOW descendants.
I have not yet found any KARLOCKs who appear to be descended from these three GERLACH
brothers.
Any additions or corrections to the information found in the GERLACH report which appears
on my home page would be greatly appreciated.
I also show the following source for additional information regarding many of the same
individuals mentioned in the above-mentioned Feb. 18, 2007, posting to the RootsWeb
GARLOCK Message Board. However, this is apparently no longer a current URL. Does anyone
have a current URL for this source?
