This is a follow-up to my July 8, 2011, posting to the RootsWeb CARLOCK Message Board
titled "Re" CARLOCK Family of Augusta Co.and Rockbridge Co., VA." See my
postings earlier today, located at the following sites, on the subject of "Mary
Carlock Whitman" and "Barbara Carlock Whitman":

Page 437 of the book "History of the Carlock Family and Pioneer Americans," by
Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929, lists both Mary and Barbara as daughters of Catherine
CARLOCK WHITMAN (1725 - 1801). With reference to my previous posting, why was Barbara
listed as Mary's mother in the reference I listed? I do not yet have a birth date for
Barbara. Catherine would have been approximately 45 years of age at the time of
Mary's birth in 1770. Does anyone have a birth date for Barbara?
According to page 34 of the CARLOCK book, Barbara married James JAMESON around 1791. If
this date is correct, James JAMESON could not have been Mary's father. Was this a
second marriage for Barbara? Was the marriage date of around 1791 correct?
Any additional information on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
