Edna E. Anderson, 91, Council Bluffs, died Dec. 13 at Midland Living Center, Council
Bluffs. Edna was born Aug. 5, 1913 in Missouri Valley to Frank F. and Stella (Carlock)
Hand. A housewife, Edna was a member of the First Christian Church. She and her husband,
Alfred P. Anderson, were married Oct. 31, 1931 and together for 73 years. They had resided
in Council Bluffs since 1966. She was preceded in death by her parents; by sons, Alfred
P., Jr., at birth; and Kenneth Anderson in 1988; and by four brothers, Gail, Harry,
Clarence and Charlie Hand. Survivors include: her husband, Alfred, Council Bluffs; son,
Robert and his wife, Sarah, Anderson, Rancho Mirage, Calif.; and daughters, Beulah and her
husband, Marvin, Sass, Council Bluffs; and Betty Gardner, Euless, Tex.; nine
grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; brother, Paul Hand,
Missouri Valley; nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held today
(Wednesday, Dec. 15) at the Cutle!
r-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Chapel, Council; Bluffs, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral
Services will be held at the chapel, Thursday, Dec. 16 at 11 a.m., Pastor David Erickson,
officiant. A Luncheon at the First Christian Church will follow the chapel service. The
cortege will leave the church at 1:30 p.m. for Rose Hill Cemetery, Missouri Valley, where
interment will take place. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church, Council
Bluffs.
