Can anyone identify the parents of the Frank CURLOCK, b. ca. 1830, TN, who was living in
Jackson, Massac Co., IL, in 1880? According to the 1880 census, both of his parents were
born in TN. Also living in the same household in 1880 were son James CURLOCK, b. ca.
1858, IL; daughter Alice CURLOCK, b. ca. 1862, IL; and son Flether CURLOCK, b. ca. 1865,
IL.
Assuming that the 1880 census information is correct, the following two families are
possible candidates for Frank's parents:
1. Family of James B. CARLOCK/CARELOCK (b. 1800, TN) and Martha Jane BURGESS (or BROOKS)
(b. 1807, TN) of Marion Co., TN.
2. Family of Joseph Taylor CARLOCK (b. 1802), brother to the above-mentioned James B.
CARLOCK/CARELOCK, and Phoebe (GEADON or Geadon HALLOWAY), whose son John Bowman
"Johnny" CARLOCK was b. 1832, Marion Co., TN. According to page 438 of the book
"History of the Carlock Family," by Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929, Joseph
"moved from Marion Co., Tenn., to Walker Co., Ga., in 1820."
