Subject: [TNANDERS-L] Case of John STUART vs. Henry CARLOCK, 1804, Anderson
Co., TN
Seeking a complete transcription of the court records pertaining to
the
case of John STUART vs. Henry CARLOCK, Sept., 1804, Anderson Co., TN.
This is probably the Henry CARLOCK (probably s/o Frederick, David) who
migrated
from Rutherford Co., NC, to the Powell River Valley of Campbell
Co., TN, ca. 1800. I am very interested in information about Henry as he
was awarded money for the orphans of my direct ancestor Christopher LANDESS,
Mecklenburg Co., NC, 1787. Henry is also a possible father of my direct
ancestor George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK, b. ca. 1779, NC, who m. Christopher
LANDESS's granddaughter Racher LANDERS, 1805, Warren Co., KY, although it
seems more likely that George's father was instead the David CARLOCK who was
in Mecklenburg Co., NC, and Warren Co., KY, and whom I believe to be a
probable brother of this Henry. Furthermore, there is a Joseph CARLOCK,
probable son of this Henry, also listed in Rutherford Co., NC, and Campbell
Co., TN, records who roughly matches the description of the Joseph CARLOCK
identified as s/o Lemuel, Hanchrist, David, on page 437 of the book "History
of the Carlock Family," by
Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929. See the archives of the CARLOCK list
for
further information about why I question the information on page 437 which
lists Lemuel as having sons Joseph, b. 1780, and John, b. 1782.
