Seeking information about Ransom George CARLOCK (s/o Joseph S. CARLOCK and Priscilla Jane
MIDDLETON), b. 16 Apr. 1841, MS; m. Sarah Catherine "Kate" MONTGOMERY, 30 July
1862, Franklin Co., MS. It would appear that Ransom died prior to 1871, as his brother
Benjamin "Ben" CARLOCK m. his wife, date unknown. Ben and Catherine's
daughter Dicey Elizabeth CARLOCK was born 7 Feb 1871, Franklin Co., MS. Based on the
timeframe, as well as oral family history, I am exploring the possibility that Ransom was
a Civil War fatality.
Reportedly Ransom appears in some records as "Ransom," and in other records as
"George," with the order of the initials sometimes reversed.
I do find the following listings through the following source, but cannot yet confirm
whether or not these references are to this same individual:
Conflict of the 1860's, The Seventh Mississippi Regiment,
(
http://www.rootsweb.com/~msgenweb/archives/frank-7thmiss.htm).
"George R. Thomas Carlock - discharged for disability Nov 1862
...
Ransom W. Carlock - died of typhoid; wife and one child on Confederate Relief"
I have not yet been able to positively identify the above-mentioned George R. Thomas
CARLOCK or the above-mentioned Ransom W. CARLOCK, nor have I been able to identify the
wife and child of the above-mentioned Ransom W. CARLOCK. I suspect these may both be
references to the above-mentioned Ramsom George CARLOCK.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
