Hi Cheri
The book I refered to was copyrighted in 1983- it covers from 1830 to
1983. I checked for the names you mentioned... I didn't find anything on
Popplewell... but I did find a couple of refrences on Carlock.
Here's what I found:
Pg. 92 James Fancher was born January 26, 1790 in Stokes County, North
Carolina, a son of Richard and Sarah ( Journegin) Fancher, Sixteen years later,
during 1806, he would join with his family as they migrated westward into
Overton County, Tenn. There on Jan 8, 1816, he was united in marriage with
Elizabeth Carlock, a daughter of Isaac and Sarah ( Ruckman) Carlock who
had been
born on March 18,1800 in Stokes County, North Carolina.
Note of Interest : James and his brother and their families emigrated to
Carroll County during 1838.
Nelson J. Carlock is listed under the Confederate General Assembly, Bradley
Bunch 1864.
He is listed for 1907-1909.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help...
Sincerely,
Shirley Dowdy

Hi Shirley,
I don't know when that book was written but would like to know whether there
is anything about the Popplewell or Carlock families?
Paulette Williams
I hear ethereal whispers, persuasive,
soft and still,"Daughter, if you don't
remember us, who will ?"
