Edie,
Since most Libraries have full use of Ancestry an no charge to their card holders, you
might check with them.
I did get Joseph Samuel's death date off of ancestry family trees some time ago.
However, I did find a
much better source on Ancestry more recently. They have books on line. I found
"Families of Cabarrus County, NC 1792 - 1815 " Copyright 2004, Kathleen Marler.
That's where I documented Joseph Carlock's father John, where I found him on page
25.
I'm looking for information on Joseph Carlock, born probably in the 1770's, and
possibly the first cousin
of the John Carlock, father of Joseph Samuel Carlock.
Wilson County, TN Tax List 1806
Joseph Carlock - 300 acres on Barton's Creek
Names in early Wilson Co., TN - 1808 - Joseph Carlock
I'm wondering if Joseph Carlock, born about 1774, birth place unknown, was the son of
Henry Carlock, and grandson of
Frederick Cornelius Carlock, born in Holland.

And, I've sent her what I am able to document.
Older family members stories included clues that connected with Joseph's family.
This is my note for Ben's wife (Sarah Catherine "Kate" Montgomery):
BIOGRAPHY: Daughter of Jesse Montgomery and Eliza Mason; according to Aunt Zula, Sarah m
1st and her husband died in Civil War (no children); m 2nd Ben CARLOCK, brother of her
first husband.
I am pretty comfortable with my Carlock's to Joseph and Priscilla Middleton, but
have questions and inconsistencies in that family's information--including son Ben who
is my interest. I haven't entered in my tree further back than Joseph, and am
"collecting" information that may be relevant, hoping to document before I
assume anything. I've read a lot of census, and tried to follow Civil War records to
sort out what is a confusing mix of repeated names, and different family members/children
in a household without knowing for sure the relationships.
My question when I saw your post was whether it's the same Joseph S. Here are my
census notes that show J S Carlock and Priscilla.

I don't have access to
ancestry.com. I'd be interested in what kind of records
were relied on for the info.
