This is a follow-up to my Nov. 25, 2005, posting. I have finally found the connection
between U.S. Army Spc. Ryan Gene CARLOCK who died Sept. 10, 2003, as a result of wounds
received while driving a fuel truck in Iraq, and the rest of the CARLOCK family tree.
Ryan's father Randy CARLOCK of Colchester, McDonough Co., IL, was mentioned in his
obituary. Randy CARLOCK is also mentioned in the obituary for his brother Jack Alan
CARLOCK, at the following site:
GenealogyBuff.com (
http://www.genealogybuff.com/), obituary for Jack A. CARLOCK,
http://www.genealogybuff.com/il/northwest/webbbs_config.pl/read/148
Jack CARLOCK died July 30, 2004, in Franklin, Macon Co., NC, from injuries sustained in an
automobile accident. Jack's obituary mentions Randy CARLOCK of Colchester, McDonough
Co., IL, as a surviving brother. It also lists his surviving father Harold Jean CARLOCK
of Blandinsville, McDonough Co., IL, and his deceased mother Betty Jo BOZARD CARLOCK.
Harold CARLOCK of Industry, McDonough Co., IL, in 1999, was also mentioned as a surviving
brother in the obituary for Willis Dean "Dean" CARLOCK of Gilson, Knox Co., IL,
who died July 13, 1999, in Galesburg, Knox Co., IL. His obituary is located at the
following site:
Genealogy Trails History Group (
http://genealogytrails.com/), transcription of the
obituary for W. Dean CARLOCK which appeared in the "Peoria Journal-Star," July
15, 1999, pg. B4,
http://genealogytrails.com/ill/knox/obits1.html
Dean CARLOCK's obituary also says he was born in Astoria, Fulton Co., IL, to John
CARLOCK and Gertrude BELLESS CARLOCK. I believe this is the same John CARLOCK who is
listed on page 508 of the book "History of the Carlock Family," by Marion
Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929, and who can be found on the following censuses:
1900 United States Federal Census, Kerton Township, Fulton Co., IL, supervisor's
district 8, enumeration district 24, sheet 6A, enumerated June 21, 1900, dwelling 105,
family 105.
1910 United States Federal Census, Bath Township, Mason Co., IL, supervisor's district
11, enumeration district 61, sheet 7A, enumerated Apr. 22, 1910, dwelling 106, family
106.
1920 United States Federal Census, Bath Village, Mason Co., IL, supervisor's district
12, enumeration district 76, sheet 4A, enumerated Jan. 6, 1920, dwelling 92, family 93.
Therefore, I have concluded that Ryan Gene CARLOCK's (1978 - 2003) CARLOCK lineage is
as follows:
Hans Peter GERLOCH/GERLACH
David GERLACH/CARLOCK
Hanchrist CARLOCK
Abraham CARLOCK
William Jackson CARLOCK
John Edward CARLOCK
Oscar CARLOCK
John "Johnie" CARLOCK
Harold Jean CARLOCK
Randy CARLOCK
Ryan Gene CARLOCK
