David, Sorry it took so long to answer. I was at my daughter's babysitting. I looked
on
http://www.castlegarden.org for Abraham Carlisle arrival , there are a few but the
dates don't seem to match yours. Have you tried this site? It was the port of
immigration before Ellis Island 1830-1892.
There is a Licking County in OH.and in the OH Census 1790-1890 there is are 2 Davids
& a Zechariah listed for Hanover Township.James is listed for Liberty Township,
Highland County. There is no Abraham listed but a John is listed in Franklin County. Maybe
the year for Abraham is not indexed and therefore does come up? I'm going to look up
the location for Licking County to see it's relation to Pickaway.
Here is the article from the book "History of Pickaway County &
Representative Citizens"
The Pickaway House also has a very extended history, dating back, at least to the
'30's. Originally, it was a one-story
building & for many years it was known as the Henry House. It was later owned by James
Carlisle under whose regime it was known as the Carlisle House. After Carlisle, came
Jonathan Boyd, who later ran the National House....The name change to the Pickaway
house."
I think Jonathan & Anna Carlisle met here and married in 1839. In the 1870 census
Jonathan is back at the Pickaway House and Anna is listed as landlord. She is listed in
the 1880 census as being born in Virgina.
So I can't prove that James and Anna are related but it sure seems probable.
Whether this is your James and he & Anna are siblings is a question of finding their
parent names. This will take some dective work.Perhaps we can find the book for for the
History of Franklin County and find some answers there. If you come up with anything
please let me know.
