Talking of Carlisles of Indiana--I have a gr-gr grandmother that married a
Carlisle her name was Harriet Rumsdale or Elizabeth Caroline--does anyone
have any connection to this elusive lady?? Her surname might not have been
Rumsdale but that is all we have now, she had two children by him Rhoda who
married a Craig and a son I can't remember. Evidently her Carlisle husband
died and she married Thomas J Allen. T J raised the children as his own.
Rhoda was said to be the first white woman in Omaha NE territory. Any help
with this would be greatly appreciated. Glitz

Cynthia,
I checked my files and I found that all of the Carlisles went to Indiana
except my gr,grandfather and his family. One of them was a John Wesley
Carlisle.

I
wonder if there isn't a connection to the Carlisle's of Indiana. I will
contact you if I find out.
