The sons of THOMAS Carlisle, b. ca. 1770/74 NC - d. March 09, 1849, Lawrence Co., MS, and
their children are:
(A) JOHN BOYD Carlisle, b. 1793 NC - d. ca. 1867, Lawrence Co., MS, married
Elizabeth__?___. John B. and Elizabeth Carlisle had eleven sons and four daughters:
Note: Elizabeth's maiden name is debated. Some say it is Saunders, Monroe or
Meadows. Presently, none of these surnames have been proven. Because Meadows is a given
middle name of at least two of their sons (as found in US Govt. Land Patents issued to
them), there is speculation that Elizabeth Jane Meadows, daughter of Isham Meadows, Jr.
and Frances Ann Sherrill of Georgia, may be our Elizabeth Carlisle. (Isham, Jr. and
family later relocated to Alabama.)
