1. It is really sad that American citizens are helping fund Sinn Fein (See
at bottom), the political arm of the terrorist IRA. Many Americans both
Protestant and Roman Catholic don't realize the IRA kills both, Protestant
and Roman Catholics in Northern Ireland, as an example, in County Armagh,
the IRA has killed more Roman Catholics than police and soldiers put
together and the bombing of Omagh in County Tyrone on market day killed 27
people, mostly women and young children, both Protestant and Roman
Catholics, the list goes on and on. The IRA has close ties with Libya,
Columbia (South America), PLO, and other terrorist organizations. Religion
plays a very little part with the IRA's activities, it's more of a political
thing. The Ulster-Scot-Americans and Irish-Americans needs to realize that
by donating to the Sinn Finn/IRA their helping to buy arms, etc. to kill
their cousins in British Northern Ireland and in some cases in the Republic
of Ireland. I have visited Roman Catholics in West Belfast and Protestants
in County Tyrone and as a whole both don't approve of the IRA, but most
Roman Catholics have to be very careful about what they say openly about the
IRA, it could mean death for them and/or their families. The IRA is
outlawed not only in Great Britian, but also in the Republic of Ireland and
the U.S.A.>>> (Since 9-11)

2. Many Americans are misled by the phrase, "Scots-"IRISH" and thinking
their "IRISH", when in fact many of them are of "ULSTER-SCOT" descent
of
Protestant Lowland Scottish who settled in Ulster (Northern Ireland) during
the Plantation period of the 1600's and later these people and/or their
descendants came to America during the early 1700's. Many of these early
Ulster-Scot settlers settled in PA, Virginia, Northeast Tennessee and the
Carolinas. Many early Ulster-Scots came to America and first arrived and
lived in PA and many others landed at Charleston, SC. Many Ulster-Scots
fought in the American Army during the American Revolution. General George
Washington had even said, if he was going to lose the war (American
Revolution) he'd want to make his last stand with the Ulster-Scots. To
name just a few of the famous Americans of Ulster-Scot descent, David
Crockett, Sam Houston, Andrew Jackson (Parents came to America from Northern
Ireland (Ulster), "Stonewall" Jackson, General Henry Knox, Samuel Clemens
(Mark Twain), Edgar Allan Poe, Cyrus H. McCormick, General Andrew Lewis,
William R. Hearst, Justice James McReynolds, William Clark (Of the Lewis &
Clark Expedition fame), several of the signers of the Declaration of
Independence were Ulster-Scots and the rest were by birth or descent of
English (the Majority), Welsh, Scottish and one Swedish. Also, of
Ulster-Scot descent were 17 U.S. Presidents. And such music performers as
Jim & Jesse McReynolds, Bill Monroe, Loretta Lynn, Emmylou Harris, Roy
Acuff, Dolly Parton, Crystal Gayle, Jean Shepherd, George Hamilton IV,
Everly Brothers and many more. And song writer, Stephen Collins Foster, a
second generation Ulster-Scot. The Great Seal of the United States of
American was created by an Ulster-Scotsman, the first copy U.S. Declaration
of Independence printed overseas for the people to read was printed in an
Ulster-Scotsman printing shop in Ulster.

3. I have run across Ulster-Scot-Americans who have spend alot of money to
have researchers in Republic of Ireland research for their family history
and have nothing found, when fact is, they should have had the Public
Records Office in Belfast, Northern Ireland and/or Presbyterian
(Protestant), Church of Ireland (Protestant), Roman Catholic, etc. records
searched. Chances are if your early American ancestor has a Scottish name,
came to America before 1800 and was a Protestant, they came to America from
Ulster (Northern Ireland) and were of Scottish heritage, mainly Lowland
Scots.
Another problem for a couple of researchers I've meant, they were
researching their "KENNEDY" ancestors. One Kennedy was a Protestant and the
other Roman Catholic. If your Kennedy family has always been Roman Catholic
as far as you know, chances are your ancestor came from Ireland after
1830/40. Most Irish Roman Catholics came to America after 1840. If your
Kennedy ancestor was in America before 1800 and lived in PA, VA, East
Tennessee, North Carolina and/or South Carolina and was Protestant they were
either from Northern Ireland (Ulster) of Scottish descent or from Scotland
in the area south of Glasgow.

4. The differences between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland:
Many Americans also don't realize that there are two Irelands, one is the
"Republic of Ireland", which has a State Church, which is the Roman Catholic
Church. The Republic of Ireland citizens are between 93% and 94% IRISH
Roman Catholic and only 6% to 7% Protestant and others. Ireland (Republic
of Ireland) has a President. Irelands legal language is IRISH, but many
Irish speak English. On Irelands money, postage stamps and other official
items, Ireland is spelled in it's native language>>>"EIRE".
Ireland uses
money called Punt. Irelands National flag is the "TRI-COLOUR", Green White
and Orange.
Northern Ireland (Ulster) is part of Great Britian and its citizens are
"BRITISH" and it's Head of State is Queen Elizabeth II. Northern
Ireland's
legal language is English. Northern Ireland has no State Church, the
citizens worship as they wish. Northern Ireland has civil rights laws for
all citizens. Northern Ireland uses money called Pound Stirling. Northern
Irelands National flag is the British Union Jack/Union flag and their
National Anthem is "God Save The Queen".
*****Note: There is another thing most Americans don't realize, St.
Patrick's Day is celebrated both in Northern Ireland and the Republic of
Ireland by "both" Protestants and Roman Catholic's, it is not just a Roman
Catholic holiday, it's also a Protestant holiday. And in most cases, the
Irish-Roman Catholics wear something "green" and the Ulster-Scot Protestants
will wear something "orange". One reason most Americans probably think
St. Patrick's Day is an Irish-Roman Catholic holiday is that some of the
largest populations of Irish-American-Roman Catholics is in the New York
City, Boston, and Chicago areas and they have the big St. Patrick's Day
parades and if you'll notice, most all the people carrying flags and the
color guards, along with the U.S. flag, they are also carrying the Tri-Color
(Yellow, White and Orange) flag of Roman Catholic Republic of Ireland and
the color green is all you see. Also, if you ever go to Northern Ireland
and want to see St. Patrick's grave, go to the Protestant St. Patrick's
Cathedral (Church of Ireland) cemetery at Armagh City, County Armagh, their
is a large stone marking it. On the next hill across from the St. Patrick's
Cathedral, (Protestant) Church of Ireland is the Roman Catholic's St.
Patrick's Cathedral, both Cathedrals are worth your time seeing.
*****Note: Another misleading thing I have heard and seen. The Irish "are
not" the only descendants of the ancient Celtic peoples. I have heard and
seen this at various events, such as only the Irish (Republic of Ireland)
Tri-Color flag displayed and only Irish items and maps displayed. The truth
is the Ulster-Scots, Scottish, Welsh and English of Great Britian are also
descendants of the ancient Celtic people. And the Celtic people were also
on mainland Europe. So, if anyone belongs to a Celtic Society or
association you might bring it up to the membership that a display should
include all Celtic peoples, it's better to be "historically correct" than
"politically correct".
*****Note: I've had many Ulster-Scots in Northern Ireland tell me that
technically they are Scottish who lives on the Isle of Ireland, since they
descend from those who were born in Scotland and descend from Scots who
settled in Ulster, on the Isle of Ireland and married from within the other
descendants of those early Scottish settlers, so technically they still have
generations of Scottish bloodlines. Makes sense.
Best Wishes,
Lynn H.

Adams' US Trip Netted $1.5m - Claim
Jan 6 2004
CLAIMS that a fundraising event in the USA netted $1.5 million for Sinn
Fein have clashed with the party's pre-Christmas revelations that
donations from America had plummeted since new laws were introduced in
2002.
The head of Sinn Fein's US fundraising arm said party leader Gerry
Adams' trip to the States in November raised $1.5 million, including the
proceeds from a $500 per person dinner in New York.
Before Christmas, the party spoke of ''serious repercussions'' because
of legislation implemented in 2002 banning foreign donations for
electoral purposes in the Republic of Ireland.
The Independent on Sunday claims figures given by fundraising body The
Friends of Sinn Fein to the US government show it raised $700,000 in the
first half of 2003 alone.
The party is also currently facing accusations from "Irish" Justice
Minister Michael McDowell of receiving support from the IRA through
funds generated by criminal activity such as money laundering, smuggling
and protection rackets.
At the beginning of December, Mr McDowell said: ''There is evidence in
relation to all of the paramilitary republican organisations that they
are engaging in criminality<<<<<<<<<<.
"In relation to Sinn Fein, it is one side of the coin, the other side of
which is the IRA. In my view, there are no Chinese walls between IRA
funds and Sinn Fein funds.''
Last month, Sinn Fein, which branded McDowell's claims ''
disgraceful'',
claimed to have a total income of 1.57 million euros.
Aside from the US, Sinn Fein has fundraising offices in Canada and its
second largest contributor, Australia. Why????????
