Thanks for your e-mail. I am trying to tie together four Carliles
who were in northeastern South Carolina in the late 1700's and early
1800's. Their names were Alexander, John, Robert and William. Alexander
was born 1750's or 60's (his wife Mary Winter Carlile was born 1766) and
he died in 1816. Alexander at least three sons, Alexander, David
Nathaniel and Jehu(welsh or irish for John) Probably one more son and
two
daughters. Alexander Jr. died abt. 1834 and and David and Jehu migrated
to Jones and Jasper Co., MS abt.1832. Robert received property in
Kingstown Lake in 1775 and was serving with Col. Francis Marion's 2nd
Regiment in 1776. John and William were on the 1800 All Saints and
Kingston census (close together), John as over 45, wife as 26-45 and
dau. as 0-10. John is dead by 1810 census. William is 26-45, Wife is
16-26, sons as 0-10 and 10-16, dau. 0-10. Any connection tying these
people together or to people in NC, VA or PA would be appreciated.

Carol Watson, 2 Fawn Valley Ct., Saint Peters, MO 63376-7926 published (I
paid $25 for it)
"Carlile and related families Augusta, Bath and Highland Counties Virginia
1745 to 1875 " (89 page book)
I have not read the whole booklet but on page 10 it mentions Elizabeth
Carlile Gillham possibly daughter of James Carlile, Sr., and his wife
Elizabeth.
"Charles Gillham and his father Thomas Gillham and Thomas; second wife
Margaret Camlpbell, sister to Rachel Camlpbell Carlile, moved to the
Carolina frontier in about 1765 with their large families (DAR Patriot
Records). This Carolina area had not been surveyed at that time and was
considered part of Mecklenburg County North Carolina; it later became Craven
County and finally York County South Carolina."
Also, there is mention of NC born William Carlile.
