re parents of Richard Carlisle, b 1775. Quote from Pike County Vol 1 by Mrs Frank Ross
Stewart "Jason Carlisle served in the Creek War of 1836. He was born in 1808 in SC,
son of Richard Carlisle, native of England, who came to America prior to the Revolution.
Richard Carlisle came to Alabama before 1820, and settled in Jefferson County. He died in
1855. Daniel, the father of Richard, was killed in the Revolution, and his wife,
Margaret, drew a pension (W 15629). After serving with Jackson in the War, Jason married
Permelia Stubbs, daughter of Lewis Stubbs, 1812 soldier, who settled in nothern Pike in
1853, being a native of Edgefield District, S.C. Coming with his father, Richard, to
Jefferson County, Jason moved to Pike in 1833, six miles north of Union Springs... . He
and his wife moved back to Jefferson in 1872 and died there, in 1878 and 1879... ."
Most of the proceeding quote agrees with known Richard Carlisle facts, but some is new to
me. Does anyone know of Margaret Carlisle who drew a Revolutionary War pension on her
husband Daniel Carlisle? Could Margaret be an alternative identy of Phoebe Carlisle? How
do you research Revolutionary pensions?
