Since you are saying James M Carlisle was a prominent lawyer in the DC area in the
1800's he might have known some other prominent lawyers such as Benjamin Franklin
Butler or his son William Allen Butler. Another prominent lawyer was Felix Grundy or
Martin Van Buren or even Andrew Jackson or Charles Dickinson. One thing for sure. These
are all prominent lawyers in the 1800's in the DC area.
I only say this because I am trying to chase down Thomas Carlisle a famous
English/Scottish Historian and expert on the French Revolution and his friend Charles
Dickens who wrote Tail of Two Cities.
The Davis name does come into play here but for now I am just working the coincidences.
