Scott,
The information contained in the article that you posted is more info than I have been
able to gather in the years that I have owned the violin. The part that really excites me
is the fact that the museum may actually have Mr. Carlisle's records so that I can
either confirm or disprove the story that came with my violin. The quote contained in the
article by Emil Heerman is also very interesting, but the quote is dated to 1930, and my
violin was made in 1940. Of course I am sure that if Mr. Heerman liked his craftsmanship
so much he may have owned more than one of his violins. I also did not know that only 75
of the violins were thumbprinted. I want to thank you for taking the time to relay that
article to me. I am going to forward your posts to the Carlisle grandchildren. I see
that you are also researching the name Corsi. Corsi is their cousin, so you all must be
closely related. Thanks again!
Janet
PS- Oddly enough, I looked at your post history on this website, and I was interested to
see that you have Conklins. So do I (married in). I am trying to see if mine fit yours.
Any involvment in the Underground railroad?
