Just for your information. A while ago, when I joined this group, I believe
I asked around for information regarding purchase of a book by Nicholas
Carlisle, pub. London in 1822, called "Collections for the History of the
Ancient Family of Carlisle." I found it nowhere but did find citations
about it in other books on the CARLISLE line. Several book stores online
have been on the lookout for it for me, too.
Since then I ordered it through interlibrary loan, just to see whether I
could get it. I did; I believe it was from a library in Connecticut, but
the paperwork on the library loan was so convoluted I couldn't figure it
out.
I got it in microfiche format, 5 fiches. I read them at my FHC over the
past three weeks. I had to return the copy, and I've reordered it so I can
spend more time with it.
There's an amazing amount of information there, pedigree charts, and all
from the earliest CARLISLEs down to the time of publication (1822).
Do try to get this book. I guess it really is only available through
maybe one library in the whole country. And on microfiche, too.
Just a suggestion of a great and rare book that's quite helpful!
