I am searching for information on the family of my great-grandfather, George Washington
Carlisle, who married Margaret A Rigby on the 17th of August 1856 at the home of Nathan
Carlisle at Pike County, AL.
The family is next seen in Fayette County, AL in 1860. First record found is 1860 US
census dated 13 June 1860. [East District, County of Fayette, AL.Page 16, Family 108].
George W. Carlile age 24 M Farmer b. AL
Margaret A. age 21 F b. GA
Jeptha M. age 2 M b. AL
Thomas J. age 6/12 M b. AL
Martha Rigby who was Margaret's mother is listed next door as family 109.
Nathan Carlisle and his family also moved to Fayette County about the same time that
George and his family did and are listed in the Middle District, County of Fayette: Page
71, Family 529. A Dred Carlisle is listed in the same census location next door as family
528.
Nathan's wife was Nancy E Coleman
Does anyone know the relationship of George, Nathan and Dred? I assume that George and
Nathan are brothers and that Dred is their father but I need proof. Can anyone out there
help me knock down this brick wall?
