Beverly,
It's good to hear from a Carlisle and fellow Carlisle researcher. Thank you for your
reply to my post.
Clata McCarver, a Carlisle relative and co-researcher of our Carlisle Ancestry, and I have
been working for several years at proving and documenting (as best as is possible) our
connection to the John B. and Elizabeth Carlisle Family of Lawrence Co., MS. Clata
descends from their son, James M. Carlisle (wife, Hulda Prestridge),and I descend from two
of their children, (Paternal side)
Elizabeth "Sulie Ann" Carlisle (husband, Barnett Lovell) and (Maternal side)
John A. Carlisle, (wife, Narcissa Dobbs).
We have determined that some information may have to be accepted at face value. And then,
there are some puzzling questions, and we search for possible answers. I based my
question about Asa M. Carlisle's name on the fact that we have not seen his name
listed (during his lifetime) as Asa Monroe Carlisle, even in Census Records, and that Land
Grant #11715, Lincoln Co., MS, was issued Feb. 1, 1859 to Asa Meadows Carlisle. It also
has to do with our quest to determine Elizabeth's true maiden name, ie: Saunders,
Monroe or Meadows.
If you have just begun your research of the John B. and Elizabeth Carlisle Family, good
luck. If you have any questions about them or your research, perhaps we can be of some
help.
Rebecca Lovell Lunceford
