There is a copy of the 1822 original by Nicholas Carlisle in the London
library of the Society of Genealogists, of which I'm a member, together with
a 1909 version with additions and corrections by a descendant Carlisle. The
book can't be taken out, but can be consulted - I've done so a couple of
times. When I get a chance to go back there - in the next month or so - I
can look up anything anyone would like examined. It deals with British
Carlisles from their putative origins in the 11th century (v iffy....)
through the well-attested Robert the Bruce connection and up to the early
19th century.

Does anyone on this list have a copy of this book?
I was able to get, by interlibrary loan, a 5-microfiche copy of it a
couple of years ago. The fiche pages were sometimes hard to read. I made
copies of the pedigrees--unfortunately, they're the hard-to-read pages
(sometimes) because the print got so small and the type was not as clear
on
them.
There isn't even a copy of this at the FHL although they have others
by
Nicholas Carlisle.
If anyone has it, might I ask for help deciphering some of the
hard-to-read names on those particular pages?
