Hi Jerry:
Been doing research on Jackson Co., GA Carlisles'/Carlyles' for 6 years. Have
about 2000 links on Hosea Carlisle, B: NC, NOT kin to Edmund, (no proof). Need to see if
you have a reference to Hosea from SC or NC or further back. I believe he was from one of
the northern counties of Ireland and not Scotland and definitely not England.
He came to GA via upper SC - showed up in 1790 census in both states. Arrived Jackson
Co., GA abt 1795-1800. Created a large amount of descendants there, Hall Co., Gwinnett
Co., Walton Co., GA. One son settled in DeKalb Co., GA. and was very prominent in DeKalb
and Fulton. His son, James Warner Carlisle went to Cass Co., Tx and one of his sons
settled in Wise Co., TX. James is buried at Bethesda, Bivens, Cass Co. TX.
Amazinging some of the Edmund Carlisle tribe arrived in Cass Co., TX from Alabama at the
identical same time frame?????????? One of the Grandsons of Hosea left Jackson Co., GA.
abt 1889-90 and brought some of his children to DeKalb Co., Alabama, left there and went
to Erath Co., Texas also - (Powhatan, Poe)and is buried in Stephens Co., TX. (1913)??
Any help appreciated.
