The James H Carlisle I'm interested in was a Confederate who served in the
Phillips Georgia Legion. It would appear from your message that your James
Carlisle was a Federal since you mention him being imprisoned at
Andersonville. The National Park Services Soldiers and Sailors System shows
two James Carlisles in the Union army, one in Co G of the 15th Illinois and
another in Co D of tyhe 153rd New York. I found an online roster for the
James H Carlisle in the 153rd NY and his entry indicates he died in New
Orleans during the war so he obviouly isn't your fellow. I would concentrate
my search on the James Carlisle with the 15th Illinois.
