They lived in Mt. Ida, and Thomas Marion Knight owned a sawmill that sits on the property
now owned by the Torn family where there is a boys' camp.
My grandfather, Abner B. Knight, and his first wife, Missouri Alice Carlisle, were married
in Montgomery County December 2, 1898. Missouri's parents were Hawker Owen Carlisle
(who was a Justice of the Peace in Polk Township, Montgomery County beginning in
September, 1882) and Elizabeth Walker Ames Carlisle. Elizabeth is descended from James
Chilton and his wife, Mary Chilton, and Francis Cooke who were on the Mayflower.
