James Cornelius Carlin II was b. at Charleston, SC, Sept. 2, 1859, the son
of Capt. James Cornelius Carlin and Ella Rosa Jenkins (a/k/a Ella Rosa de
Montijo). He d. at Salt Lake City, UT, prior to 1923.
Captain Carlin, James II's father, was a captain in the Confederate Navy and
later was superintending captain of the South Carolina Importing and
Exporting Co. (SCIE), in which capacity he went to Scotland to supervise the
construction and building of seven blockade-runners for the Confederacy.
1. Is there anyone on this Rootsweb list who's descended from Capt. Carlin?
2. Does anyone have any further information about James Cornelius Carlin II?
I need to know the name of his wife, the date and city at which he died, the
names and DOBs for their children, and information about JCC II's life and
career.
3. James II and his (unnamed) wife had at least one child. My information
shows that her name was Imogin, but one of the blockade-runners built by
Capt. Carlin was named Imogine. Which is correct? Imogin or Imogine? What
was her DOB? Her dod? Was she ever married? If so, to whom? Did they have
any children?
4. What were the names and DOBs for Ella Rosa Jenkins' and Capt. Carlin's
other children (the ones other than James II)?
Thanks. I'd appreciate any help that anyone might be able to give.
